The built environment is shaped through diverse forms of design practice that operate across multiple disciplines. At the same time, design practice increasingly engages with broader cultural, ecological, and technological contexts that redefine how the built environment is conceived and experienced.

Journal of Design Practice in the Built Environment (JDPBE) is established to provide an academic platform for examining these relationships between design practice and the built environment. The journal aims to encourage interdisciplinary dialogue among scholars and practitioners whose work addresses spatial design, environmental design, and the cultural dimensions of the built environment.

Unlike journals that focus exclusively on individual disciplines, JDPBE seeks to bridge architectural, urban, landscape, and design research through a shared interest in design practice.
